The congress, which will take place annually in the future, offers an innovative platform for medical practitioners and healthcare professionals as well as scientists, sponsors, and health politicians. Together we can actively influence the development of the best possible health care. I am especially delighted that it was possible to confirm the contributions of internationally renowned colleagues in our area of integrative medicine, which will emphasise our joint efforts.
The past decades have been characterized by a considerable increase
of knowledge in all medical areas. On the one hand, this gain of
knowledge led to a significant improvement in diagnosis and treatment of
diseases. However, on the other hand we face specialisations, which
aren’t always resulting in best possible comprehensive health care. In
the context of this development, integrative medicine has to be
understood as bridge between conventional western medicine and
complementary medical procedures and providers. Integrating the various
approaches offers great potential for improving individual medical care.
That is why the theme for the
With regard to this congress, the close and successful scientific collaboration with various medical societies (Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Schmerztherapie, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kardiologie - Herz- und Kreislaufforschung, International Society for Complementary Medical Research) is evidence for the gain of importance, which integrative medicine experiences across the borders of scientific areas.
The 1st European and German Congress on Integrative Medicine is complemented by an “Open Information Day” for the interested public and patients on 9 November 2008.
